How important is the role of patronage in the development of the Czech Philharmonic and in supporting young musical talent? This was one of the topics taken up by Dagmar Caspe, Executive Director of the Czech Philharmonic Foundation, during the discussion evening entitled “From the Concert Stage to Business”, which took place on 6 October at the Prague Business Club.
Dagmar Caspe explained the Foundation’s work and pointed out the vital role played by donors and patrons in supporting the prime Czech orchestra. Thanks to their generosity, the Foundation is able to foster the artistic development of the Czech Philharmonic, support the next generation of talented musicians and help create conditions for their further professional growth.
The evening featured also another guest, concertmaster of the Czech Philharmonic Jiří Vodička, one of today’s most prominent Czech violinists and also an entrepreneur who bridges the world of classical music with modern technology. The discussion, moderated by Mahulena Černá, spanned the life of a professional musician, entrepreneurial activities in the cultural sector, and new ways of sharing classical music with a broader audience.
The evening thus brought together the topics of artistic excellence, entrepreneurship and patronage, and reminded that the success of outstanding musicians is down not only to talent and hard work, but also to the people who help them realise their potential.
Our thanks go to the Prague Business Club for the invitation and opportunity to present our Foundation’s mission.
